CREATE is a project of Refuge at Work in partnership with the Auckland Refugee Community Coalition (ARCC). It is a charitable trust aimed at equipping former refugees with basic trade skills and a level of confidence necessary for attaining employment in the construction sector.
It's easy, here’s how it works:
1.
We provide FREE 6 week, ready-for-trade courses, taught by a qualified carpenter(s). Students of our course will learn basic carpentry theory and practice, general trade-skills, and New Zealand working standards. They will also complete the industry recognised SiteSafe course. |
2.
Refuge at Work is partnering with Construction Companies to find meaningful employment for former refugees. Upon completion of the course, our students will be offered a job with the opportunity to work towards a qualification through BCITO. |
3.
All students of the course are provided with a basic tool kit and safety gear valued up to $1,000. Refuge at Work provides ongoing support and mentoring to the new employees and employers. |
